GE Healthcare and Microsoft launch Caradigm joint venture

GE Healthcare and Microsoft have launched a new joint venture called Caradigm, which aims to improve the use of real-time intelligence in healthcare systems.

The 50/50 venture plans to develop and market an open healthcare intelligence platform and collaborative clinical applications, with the goal of enabling better population health management to improve outcomes and the economics of health and wellness.

Caradigm will be based in Bellevue, Washington and will be led by a team of executives from both parent companies, with Michael Simpson joining the firm from GE Healthcare to serve as chief executive officer.

"By forming Caradigm, we can offer innovative healthcare solutions, including an open platform and tools that enable software developers around the world to address the complexities of population health today," said Mr Simpson.

Last month, the company allied with Affibody on the development of a new HER2-targeted PET imaging agent for breast and gastric cancer, based on encouraging early studies carried out by Affibody.
