Ογδόντα επτά γιατροί μπαίνουν στο μικροσκόπιο του ελέγχου  για υπερσυνταγογράφηση φαρμάκων για υπερβολική έκδοση παραπεμπτικών αλλά και συνταγογράφηση σε θανόντες! Οι υπερβάσεις στη χορήγηση συνταγών και παραπεμπτικών, το πρώτο εξάμηνο του 2013, ξεπερνούν τα 53 εκατομμύρια ευρώ και ´´εξηγείται ´´ απόλυτα αφού μόνο ένας  Νευρολόγος στην Καρδίτσα με συνολική δαπάνη περίπου 350.000 ευρώ, εμφανίζεται να έχει υπογράψει πάνω από 600 παραπεμπτικά και σχεδόν 13.000 πράξεις σε ένα και μόνο κέντρο αποκατάστασης.

Σύμφωνα με τα στοιχεία που έδωσαν σήμερα στη δημοσιότητα ο υπουργός Υγείας κ. Αδωνις Γεωργιάδης και ο πρόεδρος του ΕΟΠΥΥ κ. Δημήτρης Κοντός  γιατροί έχουν συνταγογραφήσει ακόμα και σε νεκρούς! Οι γιατροί που γράφουν τα περισσότερα παραπεμπτικά και συνταγές είναι παθολόγοι και ακολουθούν οι καρδιολόγοι, ορθοπεδικοί, γενικοί γιατροί και γυναικολόγοι.
Οι δέκα δήμοι της Αττικής με την υψηλότερη δαπάνη ανά 1.000 κατοίκους είναι η Νέα Σμύρνη, ο Άλιμος, το Χαλάνδρι, το Ηράκλειο, η Καλλιθέα, το Μαρούσι, η Γλυφάδα, η Ηλιούπολη, το Γαλάτσι και το Ελληνικό - Αργυρούπολη.

Serious side-effects warnings can increase drug sales: Study

Warnings of serious side effects in drug advertising can actually improve consumers’ opinions and increase sales, rather than frightening them away, new research finds. 

Ads may include warnings of side effects ranging from nausea and bleeding to blindness and even death, but they can improve consumers’ opinions about the product when there is a delay between them seeing the ad and deciding to buy or consume the product, say the researchers, reporting their findings in the Association for Psychological Science journal Psychological Science. 

Novartis board to shrink executive pay, director says

 

Novartis board member Pierre Landolt let a couple of things slip in an interview with the Basler Zeitung published over the weekend. The first is a bit of a head-scratcher: Landolt would like the new chairman of Novartis and Roche  to get together for some exploratory merger talk. 

The second: Pay cuts are coming for some top Novartis executives.

According to Landolt, Novartis' board is working on a new compensation plan that hews closely to shareholder value. It will be designed to be easily understood, and "it will lead to significant reductions," Landolt told the newspaper in a Q&A.

According to Genetic Engineering & Biotechology News, leading biotech executives dominate the ranks of best-capitalized managers. Gilead Sciences ($GILD) CEO John Martin, Celgene ($CELG) chief Robert Hugin, Alexion ($ALXN) CEO Leonard Bell and Vertex Pharmaceuticals ($VRTX) founder Joshua Boger all sit in the 9-figure range. In fact, only a few Big Pharma chieftains made the top 40 list at all--and a few of the pharma entries could surprise you. 

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals executives Len Schleifer (CEO) and George Yancopoulos (CSO) topped the biopharma executive-pay rankings this year. Now, Regeneron's ($REGN) top brass sits at the top of a new list: biopharma executives with the richest store of shares in their own companies.

But let's start with the drugmakers among the Gene News top 10 (which also includes some life sciences suppliers and technology purveyors). Schleifer is the only billionaire, with $1.13 billion in Regeneron shares. His R&D chief, Yancopoulos, holds another $580 million. Regeneron Chairman Roy Vagelos, for his part, sports another $675 million in company stock. (Somewhat farther down the list is Regeneron SVP Neil Stahl, with $63 million in shares.)
