Εκτός λειτουργίας τέθηκε το σύστημα ηλεκτρονικής συνταγογράφησης

Το σύστημα ηλεκτρονικής συνταγογράφησης λόγω τεχνικών προβλημάτων τέθηκε εκτός λειτουργίας έως και τη Κυριακή 13 Μαΐου.

Η Ηλεκτρονική Διακυβέρνηση Κοινωνικής Ασφάλισης (Η.ΔΙ.Κ.Α. Α.Ε),  με ανακοίνωση της ζητά «συγνώμη από τους χρήστες του συστήματος και τους ασφαλισμένους για την προσωρινή ταλαιπωρία που οφείλεται σε αδυναμία του αναδόχου να υποστηρίξει την εφαρμογή».

Ο  Βλάσης Σφυρόερας, διευθύνων σύμβουλος της Η.ΔΙ.Κ.Α. Α.Ε., δήλωσε ότι το σύστημα ηλεκτρονικής συνταγογράφησης αντιμετώπισε σοβαρά προβλήματα στη λειτουργία του, με αποτέλεσμα να κρίνεται αναγκαία η προσωρινή διακοπή του. Παράλληλα επικαλέστηκε και εργασίες αναβάθμισης, προσθέτοντας ότι από την ερχόμενη Δευτέρα 14 Μαΐου  οι γιατροί θα «μπαίνουν» σε ένα πιο εξελιγμένο και καλύτερα «θωρακισμένο»  σύστημα συνταγογράφησης, το οποίο θα διαχειρίζεται αποκλειστικά η  Η.ΔΙ.Κ.Α.

Σημειώνεται ότι έως ότου αποκατασταθεί η ομαλή λειτουργία του συστήματος οι συνταγές των ασφαλισμένων θα εκτελούνται χειρόγραφα.

Ολοκληρώθηκε με επιτυχία το 1ο Συνέδριο Φαρμακευτικών Επιστημών

Το Συνέδριο πραγματοποιήθηκε στις εγκαταστάσεις του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών, στην Πανεπιστημιούπολη Ζωγράφου με τη συμμετοχή επιστημόνων και ερευνητών από όλο το φάσμα των φαρμακευτικών επιστημών.

Η διοργάνωσή του έγινε με πρωτοβουλία των τριών Φαρμακευτικών Σχολών των Πανεπιστημίων της χώρας μας, με στόχο να αποτελέσει θεμέλιο λίθο για τη δημιουργία ενός κύκλου συνεδρίων του ίδιου αντικειμένου.

Το πλούσιο και ιδιαίτερα ενδιαφέρον επιστημονικό πρόγραμμα και η επιλογή καταξιωμένων ομιλητών του χώρου συντέλεσαν σε μία πολύ εντατική συμμετοχή και ανταπόκριση από πλευράς φαρμακοποιών, υπαλλήλων στις φαρμακευτικές βιομηχανίες και ιδιαίτερα φοιτητών της Φαρμακευτικής στο συνέδριο, με αποτέλεσμα το συνέδριο να ξεπεράσει κάθε προσδοκία συμμετοχών φτάνοντας συνολικά τους 900 συνέδρους.

Teva has launched the first generic Lipitor in the UK

Teva has launched the first generic Lipitor in the UK on the day the drug loses its patent protection. Teva’s pill comes in 10mg, 20mg, 40mg and 80mg strengths and will cost 14 times less than the branded drug. 

A 28-pack of low-dose 10mg Lipitor currently costs the NHS £13, but Teva is offering its low dose form of the drug at just 91 pence. The highest price for atorvastatin is £2.26 for the high dose 80mg for a month’s supply, compared to £28.21 for Lipitor. 

Kim Innes, commercial director at Teva, said: “We’re delighted to be able to launch atorvastatin in the UK on the day its patent expires. “Millions of prescriptions are written each year in the UK for atorvastatin, and the availability of the generic will save the NHS millions of pounds each year,” she added.

The Internet beta 0.5 version was nothing like it is today.  Back in the ’80s and the early ’90s the most common way to access the outside world was to use a phone modem to dial the number of a remote computer. These primitive servers usually ran DOS based software called a Bulletin Board System (BBS) which allowed users to post messages to each other. 

Abbott to acquire kidney drug from Action Pharma

Abbott has agreed a deal to acquire a promising new kidney drug, AP214, from manufacturer Action Pharma for $110 million (68.17 million pounds).

The purchased compound is in development to prevent acute kidney injury among major cardiac surgery patients who are at increased risk, with data from a phase IIb trial showing its safety, efficacy and tolerability.

Covidien and GE Healthcare form technology alliance

Covidien and GE Healthcare have announced a new technology collaboration that will combine products from both companies.

The five-year agreement will see Covidien incorporate its measurement technologies - including Nellcor pulse oximetry with OxiMax Technology and BIS Brain Technology - into GE Healthcare patient monitors.

European Medicines Agency website upgraded with new features

The European Medicines Agency's corporate website, ema.europa.eu, has been upgraded with a number of new features. These include:

• The creation of RSS feeds for individual medicines, enabling users to receive updates on medicines authorised via the Agency as they happen;
• Improvements to the What's new? page, including the ability to filter the entries by document and page type;
• The addition of a five-star rating system for many of the website's pages, allowing users to indicate how helpful they find the content;
• The ability to download searches of human and veterinary medicines into a data file.

Within the next few weeks, the Agency will also be publishing an online glossary of technical and regulatory terminology. This glossary will enable users to see clear definitions of the terms by hovering the cursor over words on the website's pages.
